You’ve got the house decked out in Christmas lights, the reindeer food (oats and glitter) is in the cupboard and the Christmas cards are written. Now all that’s left is to practice your calm voice before the in-laws arrive and wrap the last-minute gifts. Last-minute gifts?! Haven’t got around to getting them yet?
Avoid the rush on the servo chocolate aisle – just 20 minutes from Adelaide’s CBD, Hahndorf’s Main Street is home to a butcher, a baker, a few incredible candlestick makers and retailers up late and at the rescue.
“The festivities coincide with the ever-popular Christkindlmarkt, too. This traditional, European-style Christmas market is known for the variety of stalls and vibrant decorations.”
The first Hahndorf Christmas Village is coming to delight all the family with handmade window displays and light shows, live entertainment to keep your two left feet dancing along the street, enough street food and wine to leave your tastebuds overjoyed, plus a visit from the big man himself.
And with gift shops, art galleries, clothing, accessories, beauty products, and plenty of homewares, you’ll be able to find presents to please even the most difficult of family members.
The Adelaide Hills has incredible bottles to show off, too, so you can grab the perfect red, white or sparkling to present as an offering for Santa come Christmas Eve… and you can polish off whatever he doesn’t finish. (Just a handy Fritz tip for all the parents out there.)
The festivities coincide with the ever-popular Christkindlmarkt, too. This traditional, European-style Christmas market is known for the variety of stalls and vibrant decorations held under the summer night sky.
And if you’re tired of listening to Michael Bublé’s Christmas album on repeat (our condolences, but at least it’s not Hanson’s Snowed In) then the live carollers and performances have your back.
For a memorable Christmas event that’ll leave you feeling more excited for the silly season than yet another walk up and down the West End Brewery display, head to Hahndorf from 5 to 10pm, 16 to 18 December. Late-night trading continues till 10pm.
Add it to your diary, next to that list of people you forget to send Christmas cards to again.
Hahndorf Christmas Village is on 16–18 December until 10pm. Find out more here.
