You’ll see a lot of comedian Joel Creasey and drag queen Courtney Act over the next few months. They are this year’s Adelaide Fringe ambassadors and have been tasked with spruiking our city. We caught up with Joel for a stroll down Rundle Mall.
“I’m in charge now,” he says. “This city is mine. I can knight people and perform beheadings. And I get to do it with Courtney Act who I love. She looks like me with a wig on. Two skinny, hungry blonde queens are your Adelaide Fringe ambassadors.”
It’s a big deal for the funny bone tickler. His show Blonde Bombshell will be performed at the Corona Theatre in the Garden of Unearthly Delights from 5 to 11 March.
“I’m thrilled. I’m from Perth and I love Adelaide because I feel like we have a bit of an alliance against Melbourne and Sydney. Adelaide people are up for a laugh and a good time and they’re great audiences. Also, Maggie Beer is here. WHat more could you want? I have tonnes of verjuice in my pantry.”
