South Australian Pizza Recipe: Pie Sebastian

The Pie Sebastian is a crispy compliment to the Aussie singer-songwriter’s pop-crooner tunes. It’s a foodie fusion of [South] Australian Idol ingredients found in your local Foodland the likes of La Casa Del Formaggio Mozzarella and Riviera Bakery Pizza Dough. This heavenly hybrid will have you wondering if Angels Brought [You] Here.

We roped in Jessie Spiby (MasterChef 2015 contestant and cook behind Jessie Does Food) to help us craft the dream slices and teamed up with our friends at Foodland Thebarton and Eatilly, who kindly provided us with local ingredients and use of their in-store pizza oven.

500g beef mince
1 small onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
½ teaspoon dried oregano
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 Riviera Bakery pizza dough
¼ cup passata
¾ cup La Casa Del Formaggio mozzarella cheese, grated
¾ cup cheddar cheese, grated
Topped with gravy

Preheat oven to 220°C.

Roll base to approximately 12 inches diameter. Spread passata and minced garlic on pizza base, followed by beef mince and onion. Then sprinkle with dried oregano, grated mozzarella and cheddar, and season with salt and pepper.

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes depending on desired crispiness, and serve topped with gravy.

Once you’ve whipped your Pie Sebastian in the oven, keep rolling the classics with a Supercheesus or a Pulled Pork Kelly.
