1. Lighting The Tree In Tarntanyangga
There’s nothing quite like watching the enormous Christmas tree in Tarntanyangga (Victoria Square) getting LIT for the first time this season. The atmosphere will be thick with festive music and sing-a-longs. This year’s event also includes a miniature ride-on train that circles the tree; giant board games, face painting, and an Imagination Playground made of huge squishy blocks. The kids will be excited. There’ll be food trucks and beverages available so you can experience all the magic on a full stomach.

Porch sessions, the roaming backyard gigs of summer are kicking off the sunny season with a Porchland Festival. 3. Electric Avenue
DISCO Is Not a Dirty Word is taking to the streets, proudly presenting this seventies music and vinyl-worshipping party on Coromandel Place aka ELECTRIC AVENUE. Bust out the glitter and flares for the finest selection of funk, soul and disco tunes. Local beverages and multiple dance floors should ensure that your night is as groovy as ever. Meanwhile, the all-Adelaide DJ line-up will provide the goods on vinyl.

4. Moonlight Cinema In Botanic Park
One of the better things about the warmer weather is Moonlight Cinema in the Adelaide Botanic Garden. What’s not to love about laying out a picnic rug and immersing yourself in a world of film and nature alike? The season kicks off this weekend and runs until mid-February with the program featuring a mix of cult classics, new releases and advanced screenings. 5. Opera By The Lake
A night at the opera might not sound like everyone’s glass of rosé, but this Sunday’s Opera By The Lake might just change your mind. Set in the gorgeous gardens of Glen Ewin Estate, you will be treated to a night of operatic music from internationally acclaimed performers, who will serenade the masses with a selection of arias, duets, and ensembles from a variety of operas. Reminiscent of Moonlight Cinemas and everything summery, Opera by the Lake will be an open-air concert, kicking off the festive – and festival – season early. Get your hands on a general admission ticket for a pre-show picnic where local food and drinks will be available to purchase.

7. Urban Beach
The Adelaide Riverbank gets some serious TLC this summer thanks to Renewal SA, whose commitment to creating a summer oasis in the CBD has paid off. Urban Beach will take over the shore of Pinky Flat from 1 December, open for families and city lushes alike. There’s something for everyone with food stalls, bars and summer sports like beach volleyball, netball, table tennis, and bocce available, as well as a water area. 8. Second Ashes Test: Adelaide
Summer. Adelaide Oval. The Ashes. Iconic. With the first test over, the teams are coming to Adelaide Oval and getting ready to continue the battle and take back the urn from England. What could be more Australian than sitting on the hill (being classy and sitting in the stands is acceptable, too) with a few beers while cheering on our lads? Watermelon head optional. With two of the best teams in the competition being right on our very good-looking doorstep, there’s no excuse to miss it.
