Dance in the sand, eat fried chicken, watch a wicket go down or head along to a beachside market to snap up some bargains. No matter your fancy, Adelaide has you sorted this weekend.

1. SummerSalt

Get ready for a balmy day by the seaside this coming Saturday at this dreamy music estival to welcome in summer. Angus and Julia Stone, Meg Mac, Didirri, Seaside and local talent Ollie English are set to play on the sand as you sway in the sunshine. Salt, sand and tunes – what could be better? Food and bevvies for sale, of course. Plus, you can bring your own picnic rugs and little fold-out chairs if you like, too. Settle in and make yourself comfy.

2. Ebenezer night markets

It’s that time of year again – the Ebenezer night markets start up again this weekend, brightening up the East End with fairy lights, a collection of local market stalls and a buzzing atmosphere. Head on down this Saturday for all the action, and knock off some of your Christmas goodies at the same time.

3. Nola 3rdBirthday

Celebrate all things whisky and fried chicken this weekend when East End’s Nola celebrate their third birthday. The popular haunt is putting on a little show to share the love, with a bunch of brand new beers on tap, brewed especially for the day. There’s also set to be beer art and live tunes, amongst other fun.

4. First Domain Test: Australia v India

It’s here! The quintessential sign of summer in Australia – cricket season. Kick off the season with a bang with the first test – Australia vs India, at iconic Adelaide Oval. Whether you like to sip a frothy on the grass, sit in the stands or treat yourself to a box, the test series at one of Australia’s top ovals, is not-to-be-missed.

5. Plenty

A series of programs designed to allow audiences to engage with our culture around consumption, Plenty is a thought-provoking afternoon of getting involved in local arts. You’ll get to sample kuarna cuisine, engage in local performance and listen to talks. Get into it, folks. It’s time to engage, give the couch a miss this Saturday.

6. Open Air Cinema

Bringing more movies to the grounds of Riverbank Lawn, the Openair Cinemas let you enjoy dusk and settle into the grassy banks under the stars. Moviegoers can get stuck into delicious grub from Chimichurri, and sip on drinks from the cinema bar. It’s a must-visit for those of you who are American Express Card Members for a variety of absolute perks. The waterfront fiesta runs until Sunday 16 November. Films include First Man, A Star is Born and ever-popular Bohemian Rhapsody. It’s pet-friendly, too, so bring your pooches.

7. Porch Sessions: Feelds

The summer season for our favourite South Australian roaming music shows, The Porch Sessions, officially kicks off this weekend with Feelds in Brighton. With season passes still available, we’re here to tell you, you should most definitely snap these babies up. These sell out fast once the season gets cracking. That way, you can sway your way in like a pro each time, without having to worry about tickies. Persian rugs, cushions, food truck grub, booze and glorious tunes (not to mention the most beautiful of vibes) – what better way to spend a Sunday?

Sunday 9 December, 4pm to 9pm, Brighton. Season pass tickets $247.81 (usual prices $33.61 per session).

8. Glenelg Sunset Markets

Good grub with a view? Yes please. Stroll through 40 fabulous stalls showcasing a whole lot of local lovin’, brought to you by the clever crew at Gilles at the Grounds. All through summer, this dining-and-drinking destination promises a slew of enticing knick-knacks as you soak up some vitamin sea. It’s dog-friendly, too, so you can bring along your furry friends. We hear there’s even some pet-friendly stalls to get your doggos some market treats, too.

9. Favourite Things – Little Vintage Christmas Market

Head down to McLaren Vale this Sunday for the cutest collection of goodies you ever did see – from brownies to vintage goodies, to jewellery, fashion beer and much much more, you’ll be spoilt for choice. We’d say go for your Christmas pressie list, but also go for yourself because you deserve it. Mosey through the glorious grounds of Littlest Vintage, one of South Australia’s most-loved vintage stores, and pick up some local delights along the way.
