Things are heating up in Adelaide and we don’t just mean the weather. This weekend we’ve got festivals, a sing along, an international footy match and strawberry picking fun. Here are the top seven events in Adelaide, this weekend.
1. Fridays After Five – Aldinga
Summer is almost upon us and that means Fridays After Five at Aldinga is back. Every Friday you can kick start your weekend with live music, a glass of wine, delicious food and a sneaky shop at the markets. This week, you can sit back with a drink and listen to indie folk tunes by Elli Belle and then enjoy more sounds from Hey Harriett. Great for family and friends, the little ones can stay entertained at the bouncy castle in the kids’ area. So escape to the coast this weekend and don’t miss out on free market fun.

2. The Palestinian Film Festival
Discover a cinematic journey into the world of Palestinian arts and culture with the Palestinian Film Festival. Four features and two short films will be screened over the weekend at the Palace Nova Cinemas including Junction 48, a political hip-hop feature and A Man Drowning, which was nominated for the Palme d’Or – Best Short Film at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. 3. Handpicked Festival
Festival season is well and truly here and this weekend Lake Breeze Wines are hosting Handpicked Festival. With an impressive line-up including Matt Corby, Jet, San Cisco, The Jezabels and more, it’s set to be one massive day. Located in the picturesque Langhorne Creek wine region, you can taste amazing local produce with a picnic, drink the best drops from Lake Breeze, shop up a storm at the markets and listen to world class music acts. So round up your friends and bag a ticket, you won’t want to miss out on this one.

4. Remembrance Day at West Terrace Cemetery
This Saturday honour Australia’s servicemen and women at the state’s oldest cemetery, West Terrace Cemetery, with a special Remembrance Day service. Taking place under the Cross of Sacrifice, the service will commence at 10am to honour all those who have served in past conflicts and those still serving today. Open to the public, it’s a great opportunity to bring the children along to better understand times of wars and sacrifice and the significance of Remembrance Day.

5. Sing Along at Goodwood Institute
Love to belt out your favourite songs even though you’re kind of tone deaf? Well here is your chance to inflict your singing on others. This Saturday join Jim Paterson, Gerry Massi and Steve Fleming for a sing along of your all-time favourite songs. Open to everyone and all singing abilities (the good and the bad), it’s a family friendly event that promises heaps of fun. You’ll probably know most of the songs with hits by Neil Diamond, The Beatles, Tom Jones, Sandy Shaw and more, but all the lyrics will be on the screen to help you remember the words. So warm up your vocal chords, get your friends together and grab a ticket which includes a glass of bubbly and a snack plate. This one’s going to be a hoot.

6. A Taste of Beerenberg Experience
Now that strawberry season is here, it’s the perfect time of year to visit the iconic Beerenberg Family Farm in Hahndorf. Add to the fun this weekend and join in on their new A Taste of Beerenberg Experience. It’s an intimate 90 minutes of tasting, learning and relaxing at the picturesque farm while enjoying local gourmet produce. You’ll be seated in a private area at the farm and get to treat yourself to a delicious grazing platter, while listening to the stories that have brought the family to where they are today. 7. International Rules – Australia v Ireland at Adelaide Oval
Watch the best in Aussie football take on Ireland’s squad this weekend at the International Rules Gaelic football match. A hybrid of AFL and Gaelic Football, the big clash will highlight the best of each sport as the biggest names in the league battle it out. The two-test series kicks off in Adelaide this Sunday followed by a second game in Perth on 18 November. Taking to the field for Australia, local lads Eddie Betts, Rory Laird and Rory Sloane from the Adelaide Crows and Travis Boak, Paddy Ryder and Chad Wingard from Port Adelaide will all be playing for the same team. Grab a ticket and cheer on the boys to victory.

Plan Ahead: Mitsubishi Motors International 3 Day Event
The prestigious equestrian event returns to Adelaide next weekend for a big three days of action. It’s the only event like it in the southern hemisphere with the triathlon seeing competitors showing off their skills in the dressage, cross country and show jumping. All happening in the East Parklands in the heart of Adelaide, there’s so much to do and see you won’t know where to look first.
